Message from GOP Chair Ralph Slaughter
As many of you know, Governor McCrory appointed Bill Coward to the North Carolina Superior Court for the 30A Judicial District. Bill's formal Swearing-In will be on Friday, October 25, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. in the Macon County Courthouse. There will be a reception immediately following at the Franklin United Methodist Church.
Mark Martin, Senior Associate Justice on the North Carolina Supreme Court will be presiding at the Ceremony and, as we all know, Mark is running for election as Chief Justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court in 11/14. Likewise, Bill will be running for election to the Superior Court in the 2014 General Election.
As a Superior Court Judge in District 30A, Bill will, over time, be holding Court in counties throughout the 11th Congressional District.
Bill has asked that I extend an invitation to all Jackson County Republican members. to his Swearing-in Ceremony. Interested persons in your respective counties are also invited.
If you or others from your county plan to attend, please let me know and I will pass it on so they can have an accurate number for the reception.

North and South Jackson County Republican Monthly Meeting
The monthly meeting of the Jackson County Republican Party will be held Monday evening October 28th at Ryan's in Sylva, 6:00 PM to eat, 6:30 PM to meet. The featured speaker is Matthew Hoagland, President of the North Carolina Young Republicans. All Republicans, voters, others interested and especially young people are invited to the meeting which is focused on this important segment of the Republican base. Nullification Seminar with Joe Wolverton - 2:00 PM, Skyland
Joe Wolverton is a native of Osceola, Arkansas, but as the child of a career soldier, he was raised in Europe and America, graduating from high school in Frankfurt, Germany. Joe received his B.A. in Political Science from Brigham Young University in 1995 and his Juris Doctor in 2001 from the University of Memphis.
Since 2004, Joe has been a featured contributor to The New American magazine. Most recently, he has written a cover story article on the rise of the surveillance state, as well as numerous articles exposing the tyranny of the NDAA and similar legislation that he has dubbed "the Dossier of Dictatorship."
His articles on the Constitution, states' rights, the NDAA, drones, and the surveillance state have appeared in national and international publications, including The Blaze, the Ron Paul Forums, the Tenth Amendment Center, Infowars, Business Insider, and the Guardian (U.K.) among others.
Joe is a featured speaker on the nationwide Nullify Now! tour and speaks frequently at Campaign for Liberty events. Apart from his work as a journalist and public speaker, Joe is a professor of American Government and was a practicing constitutional law attorney until 2009.

A native of Maryland with roots in North Carolina, Mr. Hopp is a graduate of Penn State and Shenandoah University. In 2005, Mark returned to these roots and now resides in Burlington with his wife and child. He holds a Bachelor of Accountancy and is licensed in the home health field.
Mark is an Executive Committee member of the Republican Liberty Caucus and is active in the Tenth Amendment movement; An editorial contributor to several local newspapers and the Tenth Amendment Center website, he also speaks to groups in North Carolina on Nullification and why they should focus more on state issues for effective change.
