Jackson County NC Republican Party
Welcome to 2017 from the Jackson County NC Republican Party
We WON THE WHITE HOUSE!!! TRUMP / PENCE WIN!!
We hope that you have healthy and wonderful 2017. We thought it would be helpful to share some important dates and information with you as we head into the mid year elections in 2018.
Here are some things people have been emailing and asking the Jackson County GOP:
1) How Can I Be a Delegate to a National Convention?
The path to attend a GOP National Convention – starts in your local precinct. It is a multi-step process, and one in which you will meet hundreds of conservative North Carolinians, learn about issues facing our county and state, and play an active role in making our government more responsive, transparent, and focused.
You must register to attend the Jackson County Combined Precinct and County Convention Meeting usually in March of each year at the Jackson County Senior Center in Sylva . To be a delegate, you must be a registered Republican by January of the current year, and register for the Combined Precinct Meeting/Convention. You can attend the convention as a guest, but you cannot be a delegate if you are not a registered Republican per our party rules.
Usually there is a small fee ($25.00 includes dinner/$10.00 convention only) to attend the convention, which offsets our expenses.
Attend the 11th Congressional District Convention in April; then continue on to the statewide Convention. The city of the State Conventions change each year. 2017 convention is in Wilmington, NC June 2-4; 2018 will be held in Hickory, NC. Dates will be given next year. It is at the State Conventions that final delegate selection is determined for the National Party. North Carolina will have a total of 72 delegates and you might be one of them!
2) How can I get involved with Jackson County GOP in 2016?
Our organization is tooling up for next year and we need help in YOUR neighborhood – precinct chairs, block captains, etc. This is a great way to get involved at the most local (and most important!) level!
We even need help on our various committees – Finance & Fundraising, phone calling, PR, election year support, and more – all need help to make a real impact in 2018. Each only requires a small investment of your time that will have huge dividends for the party and our candidates!
3) Are there things around the office [when Jackson County Sets up offices in Cashiers and Sylva] I can do to help?
Absolutely! We will have a big need for volunteers working in our HQ when it is set up later in election years, and we will certainly need your help! 2018 is a critical election year for mid year elections and there is so much to do.
4) When is the 2018 Republican Primary?
Primaries will be held in spring of 2018. We will let you know if you give us your name and email address; you will be added to our database of Jackson County Republicans. We will be sending out newsleters periodically, and we have monthly meetings all year long at Ryans in Sylva the 4th Monday evening of each month at 6pm to eat then 6:30pm to hold our meeitngs.
For the record, Jackson County GOP does NOT endorse anyone in Republican party primaries! We will provide information on all the candidates for all the various offices and put links to their websites on our website, and you can us for more contact info.
These were the most common questions we’ve heard the past few weeks. If you have others just email us and leave a comment/question.
Your Jackson County GOP meets each month at Ryans in Sylva, 6 PM to eat/6:30 to meet. Come out and hear one of our speakers. We look forward to seeing you soon as we work towards victory in 2018!
Thank you for your continued support.
